Abstract：We study a formulation for fluid-rigid particle interaction problems that use distributed Lagrange multipliers in the spirit of the fictitious domain method. The discretization of the problem leads to a mixed problem for which we will present a rigorous stability analysis in this talk. Additionally, we will introduce a parallel preconditioning method for the linearized algebraic systems. Even in cases with millions of unknowns, the performance of our preconditioned iterative methods is comparable to that of some industrial direct solvers.
