Abstract: In calculus of variation, the theory of calibration provides a powerful tool to show a certain solution is an absolute minimizer of a variational integral, like the area functional. In this talk, we shall first review some classical results of calibration. Then we shall discuss its applications to the stability of some free-boundary problems.
